Alexir Partnership

Alexir design and manufacture bespoke packaging for the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FCMG) sector. These are mostly folding cartons for the food industry and Alexir are the only independent business that can pack the end product as well as design and manufacture the packaging.

Recent investments in digital printing and personalisation mean Alexir are leaders in their field with a venerable client list including airlines like British Airways and Emirates; supermarkets like Tesco and Sainsburys; and household names like Nestle.

Background

Our partnership with Alexir started in 2012 following a major fire which nearly destroyed the business. The existing provider had carried out a lot of reinstatement work at a new site but price rises and ongoing problems led to a breakdown in the relationship.

Major investments in new technology were planned and Alexir went to market to find a new IT service provider. We pitched to the business and our hands-on knowledge of the technology needed and value-for-money were two key reasons Alexir chose Wessex IT. We are not “salesy”!

Over the years we have delivered sizable infrastructure projects to computerise and automate parts of the business and worked with a number of specialist printing and manufacturing vendors. A complete overhaul of backup, replication and disaster recovery provisions is also one of the highlights.

I am accountable to the board for our IT expenditure. As well as ongoing support Wessex IT have delivered a number of capital projects and I can honestly say each has provided the Alexir Partnership with value-for-money.
