About Us

IT started out as a hobby for Richard: from a young age he had a desire to understand how things worked and the family computer would regularly be in pieces whilst he figured out how to fix it! At the age of 15 Richard started providing IT support to friends, family, and private clients and he also started building websites.

Having graduated with a BSc in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of Birmingham, in 2005 Richard joined forces with friend Andrew Sewell to start Wessex Networks – becoming Wessex IT in 2016.

From the service desk, Richard transitioned through sales to account management and “big picture” jobs as the company grew from strength to strength. As Director, Richard now supports and mentors the team and is responsible for technical governance, innovative solution architecting, and account management.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys the thrills of fast cars and skiing but has developed an appreciation for DIY, gardening, and enjoying rural life with his wife, daughter, office dog Harvey (a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) and their two cats, Ben and Lilly, and chickens!
